Day 208: Happy 75th DPS

I noticed after lunch today that there was something going on in the civic center parking lot.

The Texas State Troopers were out showing off their stuff to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Texas Department of Public Safety.

On top of this, there is a group of motorcycle riders who are riding across the state.

However my eyes locked onto this little baby:

I like Helicopters. And I have since I was a little kid. Right after I took this picture the pilot came over and told me not to touch it. My reputation precedes me I guess. That is a story for another day.

By the way, did anyone know this existed?

I do not care that it dosn’t actually work. My state has a robot police officer. And that is kind of cool.

Yes, I knew that Trooper Buddy (or whatever the robot’s name is) exists, because my mother is a retired DPS officer. One of her past duties was to educate elementary school students about safety and things and she and her partner used the above-pictured robot in their presentation.

It was every bit as kitschy as you can imagine.

(Fortunately, she wasn’t fond of that gig and moved on to bigger and better things like Special Crimes, where she busted sex offenders, illegal gambling rings, and drug dealers. Good times.)

Oh yeah. He belongs in an old school terrible science fiction movie.

    I love it.

Speaking of helicopters, Eric (ET) is getting his helicopter pilot’s license. Then I think we are starting a business in which I am going offer classes for aerial photography.

But just the thought of ET with a pilot’s license is a scary thought.

  4. simon says:

What?! ET with a pilot’s license?

That should not be allowed, ever.

Cool idea on teaching aerial photography. What city would you do it in?

  5. Rob says:

It really depends on Eric; he’s taking the classes in Hillsboro, OR, so hopefully he’ll stay up there. Sadly, this ENTIRE idea is riding on Eric.

Hey, maybe you can come work with us….again, all assuming Eric finishes.

  6. simon says:

would we invite Josh, so there could be a full fledged Team media?
