The Texas State Troopers were out showing off their stuff to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Texas Department of Public Safety.

On top of this, there is a group of motorcycle riders who are riding across the state.

However my eyes locked onto this little baby:

I like Helicopters. And I have since I was a little kid. Right after I took this picture the pilot came over and told me not to touch it. My reputation precedes me I guess. That is a story for another day.

By the way, did anyone know this existed?

I do not care that it dosn’t actually work. My state has a robot police officer. And that is kind of cool.

While I was walking, I noticed that this part of Lubbock was really pretty. This park was surrounded by people just sitting there, fishing and relaxing on a summer evening.

Both of these were shot with Camera+ for the iPhone.

If you do not have this app, it is well worth the $1.99.

It changed as I grew; the first job I wanted when I was younger was to be a writer/fisherman/country music singer, all at the same time.

I wanted to write science fiction on the same level as the books that were on my dad’s bookshelf. I used to take printer paper and fold it 4 ways. On one side I would have my dad write with a crayon my thoughts down; on the other side I would draw a picture that would match up to my stories.

They had riveting titles like “My sisters make me so mad.”

On top of this, I fell in love with my grandparent’s beach house down in Rockport, Texas. I figured this would be a great place to open a bate shop and live; while writing my award winning novels about my mean sisters.

Before we get into the third career, let me just say that for a kindergartner this was not a bad bit of imagination. It is not out of the realm of possibility for a writer to have a side job and that job is an inspiration for his work.

On top of all this, my parents had picked up a tiny guitar down in Laredo, Texas and given it to me. I would pull out my tape recorder and remove the “Return of the Jedi” tape that went along with the companion children’s read along book and would stick in a blank cassette.

I would then strum on the guitar and sing an awesome ballad; second only to the song I would play on my grandmothers electric organ that went to the tune of “Oh solo mio, I lost my tortill-o” (I swear to god this is a real thing, this happened).

My parents encouraged me any way they could. Somewhere there are several multi-platinum albums on cassette and maybe even a book for Oprah’s club.

After work I went on a run through the park with my friend Jacie.

She was very goofy after the run, I think she was tired.

This field right behind Cadillac Ranch is littered with the trash left behind from people who come to vandalize the cars.

Last night, over drinks a plan was hatched.

We would drive up to Amarillo and visit a spot next to historic Route 60 called Cadillac Ranch.

Cadillac Ranch is an interesting site to see, and even though it was rainy a muddy today. People showed up to fulfill the time honored tradition of covering them in spray paint.

The landscape where I run is very pretty, get rid of the big tanks in the back ground, and this place would be heaven.

Went to lunch with some friends today at Sazon.

I never noticed it before today, but the ceiling in there is really cool looking.

Today was the first SMCLBK meeting. It was a blast, we met at Orlandos on Ave Q and Jacie Hood gave a presentation on how to get the most out of YouTube.
